箏について　- about  the K O T O
	箏(=琴)は、桐の木で出来ています。 素朴でひそやかな、気品ある音がします。 少し湿った趣があるようにも、思われます。 日本人の心の音といわれる、所以でしょうか。 そんな箏の音色を、楽しんでおります。 Koto is a traditional Japanese stringed instrument made of wood with 13 strings, and it's about 180 centimeters long and 30 centimeters wide. Before playing it, a player has to tune it by moving bridges. It is played with plectrums attached to the thumb, index and middle fingers of the right hand. in the Edo period, mastering koto was an important accomplishment for women.
